Blasting Project for the Konkola Open-Pit Strip Mining Operation in Zambia
The Katomba Project in Zambia is located in the Mumbwa District of the Central Province. The mine is designed for an annual production capacity of 3.5 million tonnes, with a projected construction period of two years and a service life of 14 years. It will employ state-of-the-art mining technologies, seamlessly integrating smart‑technology and green‑mining principles, and aims to set a benchmark for a modern, safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible mine. Upon completion, the project will significantly enhance regional resource supply and drive the upgrading of Zambia’s industrial value chain. As the blasting contractor, since the project’s launch in August 2025, the company has overcome numerous formidable challenges through meticulous planning and coordinated efforts, working closely with all stakeholders to achieve the 2025 target of 20 million tonnes of overburden removal and ore extraction, thereby ensuring the successful commencement of operations in the mine’s first year.
