Peru Southern Explosives Factory
Peru Southern Explosives Plant was established in 2008 and commenced operations in 2016. It is a Peruvian company specializing in the manufacture of civilian explosives and related products. The plant operates in strict compliance with Peru’s applicable laws and regulations, ensuring the safety, quality, and accountability of its processes.
The Marcona Project in Peru is located in the city of Marcona, Nazca Province, Ica Region, in southern Peru, approximately 520 kilometers north of the capital, Lima. It lies along the Pacific Ocean and is adjacent to the renowned Nazca Lines archaeological site. The mining concession covers an area of 670.7 square kilometers, with iron ore reserves estimated at 2.2 to 2.7 billion tons and an average grade of 51%–57% Fe—significantly higher than the global average. The deposit also hosts associated metals, including copper, cobalt, lead, and zinc. The company is responsible for the drilling and blasting operations at Pit No. 20, the first major pit at the Marcona Project.
The Aurora Project in Guyana is the country’s only large-scale, producing gold mine. It is located approximately 170 km west of the capital, Georgetown, and 130 km northwest of Bartica, at the confluence of the Essequibo and Cuyuni Rivers. The company was primarily responsible for Phase I of the underground mining operation—constructing the main and auxiliary shafts along with associated facilities—and completed Guyana’s first and second 1,000-meter‑deep vertical shafts as part of this project.
